Betul Kuyruk
Betul Kuyruk is a Bachelor of Design graduate from RMIT University. She is a Melbourne based artist who focuses on oil painting and illustration. She has depicted a variety of subject matters, which includes human portraits, and still life. In 2021, Betul exhibited her oil pastel piece in The Missing Voices exhibition at the Islamic Museum of Australia. Betul has been creating art since her childhood, however she decided to take her work seriously within the last two years, where she has been striving to establish an expertise in a particular medium and subject matter. She draws her inspiration from the intersectionality between tradition and modernity. More specifically, how cultural traditions can be combined with modern aesthetics and ideas. Another source of inspiration for Betul is the mystical and spiritual elements of life, specifically in relation to Turkish culture. In the next 10 years, Betul sees herself having explored the concepts that inspires her to a deeper extent. Furthermore, she wishes to inspire others to pursue art and also be in a position where her art is recognised to a greater degree.
